Star Ocean: First Departure R is an enhanced remake of the PSP game Star Ocean: First Departure, which on itself was a remake of the original Super Famicom game Star Ocean. This for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch updates the graphics even more, from SD to HD, and features a complete re-design of the in-game character illustrations. The player can switch between the earlier PSP illustrations or the enhanced remake version. Battle difficulty and balance have also been adjusted and fine-tuned.
