Driftmoon: Enhanced Edition

You arrive in the town of Northrop to visit your parents when you suddenly find yourself pushed into a dark well. Upon recovery days later you find most of the town inhabitants have been turned to stone and your father has been taken hostage by a troop of lizard men. This is where your adventure in world of Driftmoon begins.

Driftmoon is an adventure role-playing game using a top-down perspective. The game provides a deep and descriptive story giving the player plenty of reading, similar to the amount of reading found in games like Baldur’s Gate and Siege of Avalon. It provides a highly interactive world with plenty of objects to pick up; chairs and smaller objects can be slid around.

The maps you explore have plenty of detail and the game cycles between day and night to help flesh out the immersion. As you meet characters, some of them will be willing to join your quest, others may provide opportunities to increase your karma or give quests.

When a new game in initiated the game provides four levels of difficulty. As is typical in RPG’s winning battles and solving quests nets the player experience points, and leveling up is important for building your character with awarded skill points. Increased difficulty level means initially decreased skill point awards.

The game provides standard RPG features: world map, mini-map, inventory control, skills tree, character status view. Also included is a level editor for building mods to be used in the game.

Over time the vanilla version was replaced with Enchanted Edition on GOG and Steam, but original version can still be downloaded as a bonus.
