Dungeons of Kairn

Dungeons of Kairn shares much in common with prototypical CRPGs such as the early SSI series. The story is generic fantasy stuff: An evil mage is threatening the land, and your band of five adventurers must stop him. The game is presented in an overhead CGA graphic viewpoint when you explore an overworld and enter towns and other areas whereupon the view switches to a text-mode type interface. Random battles take place on a grid where you move your characters and fight groups of monsters. Looks like a decent game for those who are into the genre, but definitely not an easy one to pick up and play, with its many keyboard keys to memorize and conventions to learn. Unfortunately the shareware/demo version only includes a single dungeon
