Thunder Blaster Man

Released on the Famicom as Rocman X and clearly featuring Mega Man – kown as Rockman in Japan – on the packaging, Thunder Blaster Man received a name change for the NES in order to be fractionally more subtle (although the title screen is unaltered and still says Rocman X). Playing as the man himself, you have to rescue the Mayor’s daughter from a group of mysterious strangers. Despite the obvious influences, Thunder Blaster Man actually plays less like Mega Man than many other legit NES games did: instead ofa blaster you’re armed with a boomerang and can charge up a flying punch attack. You also do not get the bosses abilities when you defeat them like you do in Mega Man.
